Cinnamon
Widely known as a common spice in food preparation, cinnamon can be traced back all the way to Ancient Egypt. At that time, the people used it as a gift to royalty and it was common wisdom to use it as part of natural home remedies to treat illnesses as well.

Over time, this ancient knowledge has proven true: cinnamon is a natural remedy for cough, sore throats, arthritis, dental health, fighting infections and viruses, reducing brain degeneration and improving its functions, among others.

Below are nine tea recipes to help the body heal itself with cinnamon as the main agent.

Making Cinnamon Tea

Citrus
Gone are the times in which brave sailors and smuggled people died of lack of vitamin C. Essential to the good functioning of the body, this water-soluble element plays the role of an antioxidant for the body’s system. It helps maintain the health in our connective tissues, ensures the good functioning of the heart, and enhances one’s immune system.

Citric fruits are commonly associated with this vitamin, so make sure you get plenty.

Other foods that are high in Vitamin C are guavas, sweet yellow peppers, black currants, kiwis, and like it or not – broccoli and brussels sprouts!

Honey
Although we may only know honey as a natural sweetener and cosmetic ingredient, this golden liquid extracted from the nectar of the flowers is also a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent. Some of its use include healing wounds and burns, preventing acid reflux, relief, and prevention of cold and cough, and reduction of stress and sleep disturbance.

Many uses honey as a remedy, including how to make your own honey ginger sore throat drops.

Oils
Lavender
This flower and herb, belonging to the mint family, is of Mediterranean origin and has aromatic, decorative, and medicinal properties. In the old days, it was believed that the plant would dissipate melancholy and elevate the mood, but nowadays Lavender is mostly used to help alleviate dizziness, headaches, stress, and anxiety to name a few. Dab some lavender oil on your wrists to enjoy some stress relief, or pamper yourself with a lavender oil massage and sleep like a baby!

Foods with Zinc

Zinc can be easily obtained at drugstores in the form of capsules, but some ways of getting this essential element naturally include eating foods that are zinc rich, such as pumpkin and sunflower seeds, cacao, oatmeal, spinach, and chickpeas.

Some of Zinc’s healing properties include aiding hormone production, enhancing immune system and helping with digestion. In addition, its anti-inflammatory quality makes it a good ally when fighting heart disease and it can help prevent colds when taken on the onset of one.
